As we have collectively entered Aquarius season (Jan. 19 – Feb. 18) there’s been a party happening with the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn all in the “Water-Bearer” constellation. In astrology, the gathering of three or more celestial in the same constellation is known as a stellium. When a stellium exists, it results in an overpowering of energy from that specific constellation. A stellium in Aquarius results in an energy that is Fixed (unmovable), Air (mental), and Masculine (external/outgoing) in its nature. An Aquarius stellium also brings more original and independent thinking into play and a desire to unite and bring more creativity and community to our outer world. These energies are available to us at this time.
When Saturn and Jupiter left Capricorn and moved into the Aquarius constellation, they set a new tone – a new era – for all of us on Earth. To experience an Aquarian stellium at such a momentous time helps us fully understand what this new era is about and the themes and issues we are being asked to examine. This is a week worth paying attention to. Let’s get into it (and be sure to read all the days – even if they have past since together they form a more complete picture of what we will experience over the next 29 days):
MONDAY, JAN. 25: As we start the week we’ve got the Sun in Aquarius and our Moon in Cancer. The Moon is at home in Cancer and brings emotional and nurturing undertones. The Aquarius Sun, however, is at the same degree as Uranus in Taurus and this results in the temptation to share half-truths as a way to avoid confrontation or out of fear and/or a built-up anger that comes out unexpectedly.
When it comes to our anger, we all should keep in mind Mars has moved from the Aries constellation into Taurus resulting in a shift between “Youthful Rebellion” to a “Long-Time Coming Anger.” Before, the anger we experienced or projected onto others was similar to a toddler throwing a temper tantrum. Aries, after all, is the baby of the zodiac and known for a fiery temper that can go away as easy as it came on. Taurus, however, is known as the Bull and epitomizes “Long-Time Coming” anger. Taurus energy is known for being calm and patient, yet when a person with a natal Taurus Sun, Ascendant, or Mars finally gets angry it is truly a sight to behold. Mars in Taurus anger isn’t like confronting an angry toddler, but more like confronting an angry Bull with flaring nostrils and one horn already impaled into a Matador’s body.
TUESDAY, JAN. 26: Now that we have some #MondayMotivation to avoid getting impaled by a Bull, let’s go into the tension between Mars (in Taurus) and Uranus (also in Taurus). This tension between action (Mars) and rebellion (Uranus) needs to be personally kept in check this week, because it could show up in your life in a couple of different ways. For example, as the Sun nears Jupiter and the Full Moon (this Friday) Jupiter will be exalted and this can lead to an overestimation of our abilities, the telling of tall-tales, and an over and unmerited amplification of situations and emotions. The Sun is in a square to Uranus (resulting in tension) and Mars is in a square to Jupiter (resulting in more tension), so don’t be surprised at all if this week feels like a tug-of-war. The Bull (Mars in Taurus) is already flaring his nostrils, so keep the anger and passions in place now so you’re more prepared as the week goes on and more powerful and influential energies come in.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 27: Venus and Pluto are hanging out together in the Capricorn constellation all week bringing heavy vibes. This clearly isn’t a casual hang because Venus and Pluto are deeply focused on what is authentic, secure, and aligned with what has real meaning and value to us. Perhaps you’ve found yourself examining your life and relationships in this same heavy way. Venus rules our loves, our partnerships, our money, and our creativity. On a personal level, Pluto is asking us to consider where we can transform and re-imagine in these areas. Keep in mind since Venus and Pluto are paired in Capricorn specifically there’s more suspicion and less trust. Understand this might amplify your viewpoint (also see above on Mars anger and know as Mercury moves into Retrograde at the end of the week it will actually help most of us look at situations with more reason, proper proportion, and accuracy). Today, as the Cancer Moon runs in opposition to Venus and Pluto the areas we need to transform will become more clear and continue to illuminate as we move into the Full Moon.
THURSDAY, JAN. 28: Tonight we experience the final Full Moon of the yearly zodiac cycle before we enter a lunar new year on Feb. 12. Besides being a Wolf Moon, this Full Moon has an axis and over 25 astrological aspects occurring at the same time. There will be a separate posts on all of the different stories the stars are telling us during this Full Moon cycle (it’s just that layered and fascinating so be sure to subscribe below so you don’t miss out). For now, though, let’s focus on just a few of the key stories during this next lunar cycle (apx. 29 days). For the past week our luminaries (Sun and Moon) have been trying to co-exist and take us collectively from dark to light. They have been moving into position and aligning with other celestial to shed light on the darkness we have overlooked. It is not until we fully confront the darkness that we can stand fully in the light, so the dark must come out in order for us to gain deeper understanding and start to heal. As the Moon grows full it moves into a perfect alignment with the Sun and Earth while allowing Black Moon Lilith to come into the trio, and this is where it gets very interesting. Black Moon Lilith is known as “the dark zone” and in this position we are likely to feel triggered to react without a full understanding. Over the next 29 days we will be confronted with the darkness we typically avoid and the Truths that have escaped us. “Trigger” is a key word for this Full Moon, and it is likely we will each be triggered in different ways according to our own situations and natal chart. But, the luminaries didn’t get all perfectly lined up for just personal reasons – there’s a collective lesson to learn here, and What The Stars Say is looking to Saturn in Aquarius themes to find out what the collective lesson might concern. Saturn in Aquarius wants us to face the consequences (for better or worse) of the reality we have created. But, it’s not just our own little reality as much as it is the reality we have created for the children on Earth and in our collective care. For far too long the adults have been too consumed with publicly fighting over politics, and it’s time the children caught in the middle received attention. We’re about to go into Black Lilith’s dark zone and face Saturn (Lord of Karma) and the Luminaries (both darkness and light), so be prepared for hard truths and karmic reckoning. It is likely the disclosures and darkness will be revealed over the next 29 days (lunar cycle), but full understanding might not occur until after Mercury leaves its retrograde cycle on Feb. 12. Again, there is temptation to feel triggered to react without full understanding and it might take weeks to gain a full understanding so aim to be the Bull who is chill and grazing on grass rather than the Bull charging at a Matador. Black Moon Lilith actually provides us with a calm to temper the Mars aggressive anger coming in, so tap into the lunar energy in order to receive hard truths and disclosures from a more serene and open space. It’s going to be a challenging lunar cycle for us all, and the more time you can spend in nature or just staring at the night sky and contemplating the more you’ll be able to successfully navigate the next month. Give yourself time to process information, and continue to bounce your ideas and concerns off a trusted friend.
FRIDAY, JAN. 29: Does the Wolf Moon have you howling yet? The galaxy is throwing optimism and information our way, but it’s up to us how we use the energy bestowed upon us. Jupiter wants us to expand and grow, but the transmission of this inspiration can also lead to over-estimation and lack of practicality. Mars – when triggered – wants us to charge onto the battlefield before we even understand why we are at war. Today’s Leo Moon in opposition to Mercury in Aquarius (while preparing for retrograde) also misleads us and tempts us to misuse our gifts, tell half-truths (or lies of omission), and act in a rash matter. This is all compounded by the other energies, so it’s vital each of us looks before we leap right now. It’s just too easy to rush out into the battlefield without understanding the battle. Be patient – more disclosures and information to better guide you is still on the way.
SATURDAY, JAN. 30: Today is a great day to get things done, and the Virgo Moon brings a “whistle while you work” mood to the day. The Virgo Moon trines both Mars and Uranus in Taurus giving us a boost of energy, attention to detail, and originality. It’s a great day to mix things up, walk backwards, and do something with your hands that makes you feel productive. Mercury moves into its retrograde cycle today where it will continue until Feb. 18. Remember the Aquarius Stellium we discussed earlier in the week? Well, it comes back into play here. Aquarius also rules technology and the Internet, so it shouldn’t be a shock to any astrologer to see the dialogue on where Big Tech and social media is heading come to a major fork in the road. These issues and conversations will only continue (and Saturn and Pluto have guaranteed tech issues will continue for the next two years), but in the far more immediate future because we have Mercury in Aquarius in retrograde it’s an excellent time to back-up your files, and to clean up and better secure your digital life.
SUNDAY, JAN. 31: This is the best day of the week to lay low and avoid the “triggers” promised with this week’s Full Moon. The Virgo Moon is in opposition to Neptune and the sensitive will feel hypersensitive, those struggling with addiction will feel more cravings, and many will come across as spaced out, insincere, and off balance. The Virgo Moon’s trine to Pluto in the Capricorn constellation can result in a reawakening of feelings within us and a desire to take off and explore the word, but this is a passing feeling and we each need to check ourselves for one-sided and off balanced thinking during this Moon. The day is best spend laying low, and checking in our loved ones who are struggling at this time.
